Helicopter Pilot Add-On Ratings
Are you a fixed wing pilot looking to learn how to fly a helicopter for fun or looking to break into a stable commercial helicopter pilot career. We can help you get there through our Add-on rating courses. We offer training at the private pilot level, and commercial pilot level and flight instructor level. Our Commercial Pilot Add-on Course is FAA Part 141 approved.
Private Pilot Add-On
Course times vary depending on aptitude and experience. The FAA minimums are 20 hours of dual and 10 hours solo.
Commercial Pilot Add-on
FAA Requirements
-Hold a pilot certificate
-Have a minimum of 100 Hours PIC in powered aircraft
-Hold an FAA third class medical certificate
-Obtain 40 hours in helicopters, to include 10 hours of PIC
Part 141 Course:
-30 hours of dual instruction
-10 hours of solo
-15 hours of ground instruction
Flight Instructor Add-On
FAA minimums are 15 hours in helicopters and 5 hours in make and model. The R22, because of SFAR 73, requires 50 hours in an R22 and 200 hours of helicopters before instructing in an R22. You can teach in other helicopter make and models before reaching the SFAR 73 requirements. We offer R22 and R44 transition courses which will allow you to meet the SFAR 73 requirements.
